Our Terms and Conditions
These Terms and Conditions are provided to confirm how we work and to ensure clarity for both parties before work begins. They form part of the agreement between New Heights Carpentry and the client and are intended to help the project run smoothly from start to completion.
Quotation
A quotation is an offer from New Heights Carpentry to the customer to carry out the work described for the specified contract price. Quotations and revised quotations are valid for 28 days from the issue date. Prices cannot be guaranteed after this period. Each quotation revision includes a fully detailed description of the proposed works. Only items or features expressly stated in the quotation are included in the work.
Deposit and Payments Schedule
Initial Holding Deposit
A 10% non-refundable holding deposit of the quoted amount for the carpentry installation is required within 24 hours of written confirmation of your project to secure your installation date in our schedule. This amount includes the preparation of a CAD drawing, if applicable to your estimate. The deposit is non-refundable in the event of cancellation, as it reflects costs already incurred in design, administration, and scheduling. Payment of the holding deposit constitutes acceptance of these Terms and Conditions.
Second Deposit
A further 40% non-refundable deposit is due six weeks before the start of work. This payment allows materials to be ordered and enables production and preparation for your project to proceed. The deposit is non-refundable in the event of cancellation, as it reflects costs already incurred in materials, production planning, and labour scheduling.
Final Balance
The remaining balance for the carpentry installation and decoration, if applicable, is due in full on the day of completion. Payment can be made by bank transfer, online link, or another agreed method, with full details provided on the final invoice. The installation shall be deemed complete once the agreed works have been carried out, with any snagging items to be addressed separately and not constituting grounds for withholding payment. Any snagging items identified will be agreed with the client and addressed within a reasonable timeframe following completion.
For clients with CAD Drawings included in the quotation
The CAD Drawing Process
Where a professional CAD drawing is included in your estimate, the CAD process will begin once you have confirmed you wish to proceed, the initial design and materials have been agreed, and the holding deposit has been paid. Once the CAD drawing has been issued, please review it and confirm within five days via email whether you are happy with the design or require minor adjustments. One minor revision within two months of the initial CAD drawing is included at no additional cost. This covers small internal layout changes such as shelving or drawer configurations and colour changes, while maintaining the overall structure. Any additional revisions or major design changes are not included in the estimate and may incur an additional charge. Where major changes are requested, New Heights Carpentry will advise whether a new CAD drawing is required and provide a revised estimate for approval. Any new CAD drawing will be prepared only once the revised estimate has been approved. Once the CAD design has been approved and signed off, any further changes may affect the project timeline or cost.
Accuracy and Measurements
CAD drawings are provided as a visual guide only and are intended to illustrate the overall design. Measurements and proportions are approximate and may be adjusted on site to suit existing conditions. Where layout revisions are made after the initial home visit, CAD dimensions will serve as a guide only. New Heights Carpentry cannot be held liable for minor visual differences or on-site adjustments required during installation.
Ownership and Copyright
The CAD drawing remains the property of New Heights Carpentry until the final balance is paid in full. It is intended for project use only and may not be copied, distributed, adapted, edited, or shared with third parties without prior written consent. Unauthorised use, modification, or reproduction constitutes a breach of copyright.
For clients without CAD Drawings included in the quotation
Once you have confirmed in writing that you would like to proceed with the project, we will ensure you are happy with the design based on discussions and specifications outlined during your home visit and estimate. We will then sign off on the design and issue the holding deposit request. Adjustments may sometimes be needed between design sign-off and the start of the project, particularly after your pre-installation visit. Any modifications at this stage may impact your project timeline or cost. If changes are requested, we will assess feasibility and provide a revised quotation for approval before proceeding. If you would like a CAD drawing provided, please advise before accepting the project. The CAD drawing is a chargeable service and the estimate will be revised accordingly.
Duration of works
The estimated installation and completion dates are provided as a guide only and may be subject to change due to unforeseen circumstances. New Heights Carpentry will use reasonable efforts to adhere to the agreed timescales but cannot accept liability for any costs, losses, or expenses incurred as a result of delays.
Cancellation
Should you choose to cancel the project after confirmation, the 10% initial holding deposit is non-refundable, as it reflects costs already incurred in design, administration, and scheduling. Once the 40% second deposit has been paid, it also becomes non-refundable, as this payment covers materials already ordered and preparation or production work carried out. No agreement or order placed by a client may be cancelled except with written consent. The client must indemnify New Heights Carpentry against all losses, including loss of profit, costs, labour, materials, damages, charges, and expenses incurred as a result of cancellation.
Decoration
Where decoration is included, it will be carried out by New Heights Carpentry in accordance with the agreed specification. If you choose to handle the decoration yourself or appoint another decorator, any doors requiring rehanging after decoration will be subject to an additional charge. It is the responsibility of your chosen decorator to ensure all surfaces are properly prepared and made good prior to decoration. Doors must be stored flat in a dry, well-ventilated area, away from damp conditions, direct sunlight, and extreme temperatures. New Heights Carpentry cannot accept responsibility for issues arising from incorrect preparation or improper storage.
Workspace
Please ensure there is adequate space for work to be carried out and that the working area is clear of personal belongings unless agreed otherwise. Clear access to the work area must be provided throughout the installation. Dust sheets are provided and professional dust extraction is used, however some fine dust may still settle. Fragile or valuable items should be removed from the work area, as New Heights Carpentry cannot be held responsible for damage to items left in situ.
Rubbish Disposal
The cost of disposing of old units removed as part of the works, along with waste materials generated during installation, is usually included in the quotation. Hazardous waste, including asbestos, gas canisters, fridges, and freezers, is excluded and remains the responsibility of the client.
Parking
Please provide parking permits or vouchers where required. Parking expenses are not included in quotations.
Media
New Heights Carpentry may take photographs and videos of project progress for use on our website and social media. Please notify us in writing prior to the start of the project if you do not consent.
Late Payments
Interest on overdue payments will accrue from the due date at 8% per month above the Bank of England base rate. Part months are treated as full months.
Disputes
Invoices issued by email shall be deemed received on the date of issue. Any disputes regarding invoices or work carried out must be raised in writing within 48 hours of the invoice date. If no notification is received within this period, payment will be deemed accepted and interest will be incurred.
Variations and Extras
Any variations will be discussed and agreed in writing before commencement. Where a fixed quotation cannot be provided, a day rate of £50 per hour plus VAT will apply, plus materials at cost plus 15%.
Acceptance of Terms and Conditions
Acceptance of a quotation or payment of a deposit constitutes acceptance of these Terms and Conditions and forms the agreement between the client and New Heights Carpentry.
