CAD Design for your bespoke fitted furniture

Picture your bespoke fitted furniture before we build it.

Careful design from the start

At New Heights Carpentry, every bespoke furniture project begins with careful design work before the build and installation stage. Once you confirm you would like to proceed and the holding deposit is received, your project moves into the design phase. I design the furniture around your needs and the space available, working through the layout and details with you before it is prepared as a detailed CAD drawing by a professional CAD designer using SketchUp. Before your furniture is built in our workshop in Reigate, Surrey, the drawing is shared so we can review it carefully and confirm the finer details.

This allows you to see clearly how your wardrobes, alcove units, kitchen seating benches, media wall or other fitted furniture will look and function within your home. It gives you the opportunity to review proportions, layout and overall balance together, making sure the design feels right in the space.

It is often difficult to picture scale and layout from measurements alone. Seeing the design drawn to scale removes uncertainty and makes decisions easier. In my experience as a carpenter and joiner, good fitted furniture comes from careful planning and clear communication from the start. Including a CAD drawing gives you the confidence of knowing exactly what to expect before work begins.

Refining the detail

The design stage is where we take the time to get things right. If proportions need adjusting, we adjust them. If the internal layout could work better for your needs, we refine it. One revision is included before the build begins, allowing considered changes to be made at the right stage.

The CAD drawing provides clarity and direction without feeling restrictive. Our service remains tailored throughout. Where appropriate, small refinements can still be made during installation to ensure the finished furniture sits naturally within your home and works as intended.

our approach to designing your fitted furniture with a cad drawing

Why it works

This approach gives you a clear understanding of what is being built before the process moves into the workshop. Measurements and proportions are resolved in advance, which helps the build stage progress smoothly and with fewer uncertainties. The finished furniture reflects the design you have reviewed on screen, carried carefully from drawing through to installation.
